We just celebrated Lil’s 103rd birthday and 104th year on this earth. Wow, just think about that, think about the changes in the last 103 years?

Being born in 1910 means that maned flight was in its infancy. The automobile was something you only dreamed of owning and world wars had not happened yet.

That just scratches the surface of what history she has lived to see. The one thing that really resonates is that during the stock market crash of 29 she was old enough to be thrust into the workforce. Sure I know they started much younger than 19 back then. Just think how hard it must have been to be that age and have to live through something like that.

Lil doesn’t have a lot of family left other than my brother, dad, sister-in-law and a few nephews. But we do our best to get there each week to sit and talk with her.

She is doing very well, she has been taken off most of the medications she was on which really has proven be a great thing. She is back to eating her food opposed to pushing it away and she is a lot more talkative.

When you talk to some people about how old she is they say things like you must have great genes. The problem with that is she outlived her daughter by over 40 years at this point. It’s hard to tell people that but of course it comes to mind whenever someone says that.

But Lil wanted me to pass along her wishes for you. She just wants everyone to be happy and healthy and look out for each other.

It has been over a year now since Lil has been in a nursing home. For a little while she seemed a little out of it but that may have been because of the medications they had her on.

At this point she has pretty much been taken off of most medications and is doing so much better for it. She went thru a period where she did not want to eat food at all and now shes back to housing her meals.

The reason I made this video when I went for a visit was because she was with it and on the ball.

October 30th 1910 Lil was born. On October 30th 2012 we celebrated her 102nd birthday at her senior home. My dad, brother and sister in law braved the remnants of Hurricane Sandy to bring Lil her Birthday Cake.

Lil for some reason kept mentioning this tree we have in the family room. She kept asking if it got bigger or something along those lines. The tree has not really grown that much but I guess that is what happens after you don’t see it for a month or two.

The monkey that Lil is referring to in this video is our cat Mr. Miowgi she always loved calling him a “little monkey”. Sit back and enjoy this 92nd appearance of Lil in a video.

Lil was over for a family dinner recently so we got to chatting on video again. It’s amazing how much she lights up when its time to make a video or two.

This time she got to coughing pretty strong so I had to go get her a cup of water. She is starting to feel better though. They say its like when a kid goes to daycare for the first time they pick up different sicknesses. With Lil she really has not been exposed to that many people for over 20 years.

We brought Lil home for a family dinner the other night so I thought it would be a good time to catch up on making some videos.

She has been fighting off a cold since moving to the new place but it seems like she is starting to beat it.

Of course this is not the easiest thing to do but it is the best thing for Lil. There are people around 24-7 not just to help but to also talk with. There are so many activities for the residents to do that it keeps the mind moving and grooving.

Last week when I visited Lil she was walking down the hall with her new walker saying hello to everyone. She is really the only resident there that is not in a wheelchair. She is the oldest in her wing possibly the oldest in the building.

This is a great, safe and clean place for Lil to be and like my dad said in the video, Lil thinks she is in a country club.

I had to do it, I had to bring home the Shake Weight as a gift for LIL for Chanukah. It is really funny how she says how much she thinks it weights even after I tell her its only 2.5 pounds.

Many times you hear stories how as people get older they stop caring as much and they dont keep appearances up. Well Lil always makes sure when we go to make a video that her hair is nice and that her makeup is spot on. Lil likes her covergirl and it would be great if they decided to send her out some FREE Samples. I love how she gave her little elevator pitch and changed the words around when asking for some “Free Stuff”.

Each year Nikon sends NPS members a very well put together calendar which images capture from Nikon users. Lil still likes using the old fashion calendars to keep track of whatever dates she needs to. I give Lil this gift each year as there is plenty of room for her to write notes in the squares.

This year we sat back and critiqued each image. It is interesting, some I find to be really interesting but many Lil and I found to be kind of miss placed.

Non the less it is a very nice gift that they send out each year.

I recently went to an LMFAO show and brought home one of their glow sticks that changes colors. It really is something pretty cool. It has a sticker on it with the images of the guys in the band and it also says “Sorry for Party Rocking”.

You can see Lils reaction to the blinking and changing lights as well as me doing some party rock dancing right in the video.
