I have to say, being able to dial in your settings using knobs and dials is pretty cool. There is an accuracy there that you just don’t have with sliders and a mouse.

This was my fist time using Capture One and it seems like you have massive control over your RAW files. The only thing missing is organization like you have with Adobe.

Canon USA sent me a Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-4000 as a loaner to unboxing, sniff and of course use. A BIG Thank you to Canon for sending this our way to review.

Official Product Name: Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-4000 44″ Professional Photographic Large-Format Inkjet Printer with Multifunction Roll System. Order one at B+H http://bhpho.to/2bgpvdm Order from Amazon http://amzn.to/2bi96GZ

Canon has been challenging Epson in the inkjet game for the last few years all while HP has officially dropped out. This Pro-4000 is the bigger brother to the Pro-1000 which i’ve been using for almost a year.

From what we’re told the Pro-4000 is a Pro-1000 on steroids. If that’s the case it’s going to give fantastic BIG ASS PRINTS.

Here is our “Real World Review” of the Canon Pro-1000

The Pro-4000 is a 44 inch wide 11 ink + 1 Chroma Optimizer Inkjet printer. This means you can print 44 inch wide prints by however long the roll of paper is. If you need a larger printer you can go with the Pro-6000 which can handle 60 inch wide paper but has less inks.

The version that was sent to me has the Multifunction Roll System which means I can have two rolls on the machine and the printer will be able to switch between whatever papers you have installed. This is great if you spool print jobs and need some Glossy and others Matte for example.

This set up clicks in at just under $6,000 with the optional multifunction roll system and $5,000 without it. The inks come in three different sizes 160 / 330 and 700 mL and are priced at $97 / $173 / $294

In all honesty the price of this printer is not bad at all. Take into consideration if you’re selling fine art prints and have full control of your workflow. If you’re selling prints for hundreds or thousands of dollars the printer will pay for itself fairly quick.

We will be doing a “Real World Review” of this printer as soon as we have it set up. Since the print quality will be similar to the Pro-1000 we will focus on the functions that make the Pro-4000 unique. I am thinking we will do sample prints from multiple DSLR’s. The Canon 5DSr, Canon 1DX Mark II, Nikon D5 and the rumored Canon 5D Mark IV if it turns out to be a real camera.

Canon and I are working together on this project which is why I get to keep the cameras. I get the cameras, they get promotion. It’s not like Canon just gave me the cameras for nothing, we worked out a deal.

Postman FRO dropped off some really cool toys from Canon that we get to keep since we are installing them at the FroFactory. I personally do not know much about Network Cameras but figured Canon probably did and I was right.

Canon has an entire division dedicated to Network Cameras to help protect your properties, businesses or even military locations.

When Canon said they would send me the cameras for the FroFactory I had no idea they one were built so well and two that they powered over ethernet!!!

Here is a playlist of all Postman Fro Videos

Postman Fro brought me the NEW Sony RX100 IV to unbox and sniff. For more info on this camera check out Sony’s product page for it.

Is this the best pocket camera out there?

The specs and features that the fourth generation camera offers are pretty sweet. Are they enough to call this the “Best pocket camera ever?”

Only a Real World Review will be able to better tell us if it is and I hope to film one soon.

My key features to look at for:

Super small and well built / Nice 24-70 F1.8-2/8 35mm equivalent Zeiss lens / NEW Exmor RS Cmos Sensor which is important because it allows for data to quickly clear from the sensor / 960 FPS slow motion / 4k video / Flip up screen for selfie style video or photo mode / 1/3200th of a second top shutter speed

Sample 960 FPS

If you’re looking to get your first drone for either learning to fly or capturing photos and videos this may be the system for you.

DJI also makes a few higher end models but you will be paying a premium for the extra bells and whistles which in my mind are worth it if you can afford it. Check out the DJI Phantom 3 Professional if that’s the case.

There has been a debate for years on wether you should own an inkjet printer or farm out your prints to one of those online printing places.

EPSON has sent me the SC-P600 to play with to maybe help me understand why people should print more at home vs sending out for their prints.

I wont go into too much detail right now on the pros can cons of owning an inkjet vs sending out for prints. But what I will tell you is if you print only a handful of images it wont be worth it to own a printer at home. If you are constantly banging out prints for sale or to giveaway than a printer at home could be a good option.

What has me intrigued about this printer is the fact that you can now use ROLL PAPER. This means you can print 13 inch wide prints by any length as long as it’s 10 meters or less.

There are also a ton of different paper options to print on and what looks to be pretty large ink cartridges that hopefully will keep you printing for a while.

How many times have you seen a video online where the audio sounded horrible. It sounded like someone was in a bathroom talking because all you heard was an echo. Or how many times have you not been able to hear the person speak because the wind was blowing in the on camera microphone.

RODE has released the RodeLink which is a fantastic option for anyone out there looking for a more affordable but quality wireless microphone option. The unit is priced at $399 which is pretty much half the price of their competitors.

The great thing about these other than sounding great is if you don’t know much about wireless audio these units automatically pair themselves. So pretty much it’s turn it on and you are good to go.

FRO_0864

This is a small and light lens that will allow you to shoot anywhere at your fixed focal length of 24 on FX and 36mm on DX. If you need the ability to shoot at 1.8 and want to have smaller lenses in your bag this could be for you. I know I did not mention video uses for this in the video but this would be a nice angle for video. Fast in terms of letting light in and would let you get pretty creative with your depth of field. FRO_0786

I personally cary around the 24-70 2.8 as it gives me a lot of versatility. But it’s a lot more expensive, heavier and all around bigger which may not be what you are looking for. By nature the prime lenses tend to be sharper then the zooms out there and you can see that in the sample images below.

FRO_0832

During my quick tests I took pictures of the brick wall starting at F1.8 and going all the way up. You can see at 1.8 that there is a lot of vignetting. Is this a deal breaker, not so much but ideally you would like to see as little shadowing around the edges as possible. Keep in mind this is a pretty normal occurrence with lenses. FRO_0809

Thanks to AllensCamera.com for allowing me to unbox and sniff test this new lens.
